The northwest neighbourhood of Arbour Lake celebrated a recent poll.
They held a block party Saturday after Avenue Magazine ranked them the number one community in Calgary.
General Manager of the Arbour Lake Residents’ Association Craig Somers tells 660News, they had a plan in mind when designing the community’s layout.
“We decided we are going to be the best community we could possibly be. We changed the lake completely, we put in a white sand beach, we started to do what they do in Mexico with a zocolo, where you make this the centre of the community” says Somers.
Avenue Magazine’s Kathy Randle says it was the people of Calgary who chose Arbour Lake as number one.
She says, “We have a survey that goes out early on in the year. We encourage Calgarians to tell us their opinion about what makes a community great, what is important to them. It’s quite a lengthy survey and we take all of those results, put them together and see what Calgarians have to say.”
The magazine notes access to the LRT, property value and access to recreational facilities as possible reasons for the title.
