Flood ravaged Hidden Valley won’t get disaster funding

Owners of cabins at a popular resort east of Calgary are fuming with the province after being told they won’t be getting any cash for flooded out properties.

Early estimates from contractors indicate the resort community in Hidden Valley would cost $95-million.

The Province said these properties don’t qualify because the Disaster Recovery Program is only available to those whose primary dwelling was destroyed.

According to the Calgary Herald, about 35 of those homes are actually primary residences but homeowners have the responsibility to prove that to the province when they apply for disaster relief funding.
