Webber calls Redford a “bully”

Calgary-Foothills MLA Len Webber has announced he is leaving the tory caucus to sit as an independent.
He said he is tired of the antics of Premier Allison Redford and her $45,000 trip to South Africa was the last straw.
He said he would rather sit alone than be victim to a “bully”.
Webber made the announcement at the McDougall Centre in downtown Calgary on Thursday.
He said he is hoping to be the catalyst for change, and while he didn’t drop any names, he said there are roughly 20 to 25 other disgruntled tory MLAs within the party ranks.
The veteran member of the legislature said he has seen abuse from his former party’s leader first hand and said others are afraid to speak up.
“She has treated me with disrespect. I had told her head on, before her leadership review, that I would not be supporting her because of the way she treats people. I believe that you should treat people the way that you want to be treated,’ said Webber.
The MLA was close to former Premier Peter Lougheed and said the current Alberta Tories are not the party he helped create.
He is currently on medical leave and is seeking the federal Conservative nomination in Calgary-Confederation.
He said when he returns he has not ruled out joining other opposition parties, including the Wildrose party.
