Trial date to be set in a Priddis murder case

A Priddis man accused in the killing of a retired RCMP officer will find out next week when his case will go to trial.
Trevor Kloschinsky made a brief appearance in a Calgary courtroom Friday morning.
He is charged with first degree murder in the August, 2012 death of Peace Officer and former Mountie Rod Lazenby who visited the accused acreage to investigate a dog complaint. Lazenby was later dropped off at a Calgary police station in medical distress and shortly after in hospital.
Two weeks ago defence lawyer Maggie O’Shaughnessy asked for a hearing date to determine if her client was criminally responsible for the murder.
A trial date will be set on Friday, March 28th.
It’s expected Kloschinsky will file a not criminally responsible defence.
The accused is currently being held in the Southern Alberta Forensic Centre rather than a remand centre.
Details on a psychiatric report on Kloschinsky have not yet been revealed.
