Redford’s sky palace plans costs taxpayers $150,000

For just the design alone, Alberta taxpayers were billed $150,000 for former Premier Alison Redford’s planned penthouse.

Documents tabled this week in the legislature by Ric McIver, say the total bill for all consulting work on the “Sky Palace” was just over $173,000.

The penthouse was to be on the 11th floor of the federal building; an historic structure under renovation that will eventually house offices for all members of the legislature along with other government officials.

The suite was never finished.

McIver declared his intent to run for the Tory leadership in Calgary on Wednesday.
