Cans for Monahan takes on a whole new meaning

#CansforMonahan on Twitter is drawing some not-so-great feedback.

But the Calgary Food Bank is looking to give the hashtag a better meaning.

They tweeted out earlier on Friday  “We have a number of food drives this weekend, your #CansForMonahan food donations would be happily accepted.”

The hashtag originally started back in 2004 as ‘shirts off for Kiprusoff’ which suggested women should pop their tops for game day celebrations, but has since been modified to reflect newer players.

Most fans say it’s not an invite to lift your shirt but rather to rally fans behind the Flames for playoff support.
