Flu vaccine now available

Flu season arrived earlier than usual this year, and this year’s vaccine is now available.
Michelle Murti, a medical health officer with Fraser Health, said even though last year’s batch wasn’t overly effective, this one should be better, and it’s still recommended that everyone get it.
“The flu shot is your best defence but there’s lots of other things you should be doing to try to keep yourself health. Washing your hands frequently, making sure that after you blow your nose that you’re washing your hands, using other respiratory etiquette, so making sure you’re coughing into a Kleenex or sleeve,” Murti said.
She added, the vaccines are made before the flu season begins, which means health officials have to predict what strains they need to prepare for.
