Marlborough Mall looking for prom/graduation dresses as donations drop

There are fears some teenage girls in Calgary won’t have a dress to wear to prom or graduation this year.

Marlborough Mall is holding its 9th annual “Gowntown” event Sunday, and donations are down.

Spokesperson Kim Wiltse said they have up to 150 dresses so far, but they need at least 50 more, especially in the upper sizes.

“We usually run out of larger size dresses, so anything 20 plus we’re certainly looking for. Those are the ones we get a couple of a year, not a lot. We do have girls coming in and looking for dresses that size,” said Wiltse.

Graduating students can purchase a dress for just $10.

If you would like to donate a dress, you can drop it off at the customer service desk at Marlborough Mall.
