Devoted community members are being sought by universities and colleges to join their boards.
Advanced Education Minister Marlin Schmidt commented at Bow Valley College for the Premier’s Scholarship Luncheon, and said job openings will be available online.
“We’re going to post job applications for public board members on all of our universities and colleges, and anybody who is interested in applying will submit their application through that job posting. So, whether you’re a sitting member or just a member of the public who is interested in serving a particular institution, you’ll be allowed to apply,” Schmidt said.
They are looking for diverse boards across the province, that are committed to the community.
“We know that our communities and our universities and colleges have changed significantly in the past few years. You know, we’ve got an influx of new Canadians, we’ve got more women attending post-secondary education than ever before, and we think that our boards should reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.”
