It’s a big week for the Cochrane Humane Society.
After a lot of hard fundraising work, they’re breaking ground on a brand new rehabilitation and education centre.
Jamie Anton with the society tells 660 NEWS, they’re losing the space they’re using right now for their various programs so the new building will allow them to continue.
“It’s going to be able to do all our dog training classes and programs that we currently offer to the public, as well as benefit our shelter animals with a space for them to be able to exercise, train and it increases our capacity in the event of a natural disaster or a large seizure event,” says Anton.
She says they still need to come up with more funds to finish the centre.
So far, they’ve raised about 83 per cent of the $850,000 price tag.
They’re also looking for foster homes to take in animals that need somewhere to go during construction.
