MILLARVILLE (660 NEWS) — Alberta’s lottery regulator is now looking into a lotto in the Millarville area where a woman is reportedly giving away her $1.7-million home.
The homeowner created the “Write a letter, win a home” contest in a bid to move into a more manageable property.
The AGLC can confirm no raffle license has been issued with respect to the contest and it’s been referred to their investigation team for a review.
A spokesperson adds as members of the police are involved, it would not be appropriate for them to comment any further.
AGLC statement:
AGLC has been made aware of this proposed contest by way of media reports and calls from the general public. The AGLC can confirm no raffle license has been issued with respect to this contest and the entire matter has been referred to the AGLC Integrated Investigation Team (AIIT) for a full review into the legality of the contest. The AIIT is comprised of members of Alberta police services seconded to the AGLC whose mandate includes reviewing contests of this nature to ensure they are being operated legally. As the contest is now under review by the police, the AGLC cannot comment any further on the matter at this time.
