CN Rail is blaming mechanical failure after a stalled train caused chaos during Friday morning’s commute.
The freight train blocked Peigan Trail and 36th Street southeast for about an hour, between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m.
A repair team was called in, but before they could fix the problem the stall created major delays, backing up traffic for kilometres.
It’s not the first time trains have caused lengthy delays during peak times, infuriating motorists.
In a statement to 660 NEWS, CN apologized for the inconvenience.
