CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The popularity of real Christmas trees has been on the rise in recent years, but have you ever gone out and cut down your own?
There’s a magical place west of Calgary.
For years, the Alberta Junior Forest Wardens Association has been giving families the chance to create lasting memories.
“The Christmas tree lot is a safe family activity, and people get to pick and cut their own tree,” explained Steven Weimer with the group.
He says some families come back annually to the tree plantation near Sibbald Creek.
It only costs $5 and you can harvest whichever Lodgepole Pine suits your fancy.
“I think there’s no perfect tree. It’s all personal preference. Probably the perfect tree is whatever your six-year-old says is the perfect tree.”
You can even warm up around the fire, or have a bowl of chili, a hot dog or hot chocolate from the concession.
Proceeds go to support Calgary-area Junior Forest Wardens clubs.
