Calgary – A Hells Angels prospect has been charged with threatening multiple members of Calgary Police Service.
The man was initially arrested on Dec. 11, 2019 at a home in southwest Calgary. During transportation to the CPS Arrest Processing Section, the man allegedly uttered threats against one of the officers involved in the arrest.
The following day at his bail hearing, the man allegedly made additional threats to a second CPS officer while in the courtroom.
The accused is a self-admitted prospect for the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club (HAMC) Southland Chapter and used the fear associated with the group’s reputation for violence. He reportedly told the officers that he had done extensive research on them, including their home addresses.
36-year-old Robert Herring, of Calgary, was re-arrested on Dec. 19, and charged with two counts of intimidation of a justice system participant.
Police say a majority of the motorcycle riders are law-abiding citizens, however there are extensive criminal networks within the community.
Herring will appear in Court on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020.
