CALGARY (660 NEWS) — WestJet is out with a statement sent to guests outlining their response to the coronavirus outbreak.
In it, WestJet President and CEO Ed Sims says they’ve been in contact with the Public Health Agency of Canada, Transport Canada and other agencies around the world to ensure they are aware of and aligned with guidance regarding air travel.
Sims says they already disinfect and sanitize their aircraft using industry-approved products and have introduced hospital-grade Clorox Wipes and Spray.
He adds, they had already instituted a flexible change policy giving guests who booked between March 3 and 31 the ability to change their flight without the applicable fees.
The airline is also going to temporarily remove the normal change and cancel restrictions for those who booked a basic fare for travel beginning on or before March 31.
WestJet also tweeted out last week a link that updates passengers with up-to-date information and outlines all of their policy changes.
