Chinook Centre warns of COVID-19 case

Chinook Mall is warning shoppers about a positive case of coronavirus shopping the same weekend as Black Friday.

CALGARY (CityNews) – The owner of one of Calgary’s biggest shopping centres is warning customers about a positive case of COVID-19.

In a statement sent out Monday, Cadillac Fairview said someone shopping on the Black Friday weekend tested positive for the virus.

It’s unclear when the infected person found out they had COVID-19, but they immediately notified Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Cadillac Fairview.

The shopper reportedly visited numerous stores including Nordstrom, Hudson’s Bay and Nespresso but AHS said no further action needs to be taken and stores can remain open.

Chinook Centre has ramped up cleaning since news of the positive case broke and is asking shoppers to monitor for symptoms.

Last week, Calgary police were called to the mall to deal with issues of overcrowding after the provincial government introduced new capacity limits for stores and social gathering limits.
