Audit shows more discrepancies with councillor’s expenses

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The audit into Councillor Joe Magliocca’s expenses has found more meals and meetings that didn’t meet the proper requirements.

They say the Ward Two representative has another $1,200 to pay back to the city, on top of the more than $6,000 he has already reimbursed taxpayers.

The issue will be discussed at Tuesday’s Priorities and Finance Committee.

The administration says they determined the expenses ineligible if they were unable to locate the people Magliocca said attended, or if attendees said they didn’t go to the meeting.

The investigation into Magliocca’s expenses started last year after the Calgary Herald reported on meals he expensed in Quebec City, where the people he said attended told the paper they had never met him.
