    CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The organizers of an anti-lockdown rodeo near Bowden, Alta. have been charged under the Public Health Act.

    Ty and Gail Northcott have been served a summons to appear in court on a count of violating section 73-1 of the act.

      Ty Northcott made a post on Facebook saying officials had served him papers for taking part in the organization of the event that ran on May 1 and 2.

      The rodeo, dubbed ‘No more lockdowns rodeo rally’ drew several thousand people over the first weekend in May and drew the ire of Premier Jason Kenney, who called those participating ‘selfish’ and called the even a ‘slap in the face’ to everyone else who is following public health orders.

      Both Ty and Gail Northcott are scheduled to appear in Red Deep Provincial Court on May 17.

      RCMP tell 660 NEWS it doesn’t anticipate any further charges will be laid in connection with the event.
