New faces at City Hall: Ward 13’s Dan McLean

With an eye on the bottom line, businessman Dan McLean is the new councillor for Ward 13. He defeated long time councillor Diane Colley-Urquhart and is excited to be part of a new group inside council chambers.

“It seems there is a whole group of diverse backgrounds and ideas and so far everyone seems to be on the same agenda, they want to work together.”
McLean says when he went door-knocking, taxes were the biggest concern. And he says he will be watching the city’s bottom line to ensure taxpayers don’t get hit with unnecessary costs.

“I’ll be looking at the fiscal side, what can we afford, what can’t we afford. And looking for savings and efficiencies.”
McLean is concerned about potential cost overruns on the Green Line LRT project and hopes to help the newer communities in his ward develop.
