Scary moments Thursday after a broken pane of glass on Brookfield Place resulted in some glass crashing to the ground along 6 Ave. SE in the Downtown Core.
The road is closed between Centre St. and 2nd St.
TRAFFIC: 6th Ave still CLOSED in the core — drivers detoured at Centre Street.

Calgary Fire Department Public Information Officer Carol Henke says when the wind picked up, it sent the glass hurtling down from the 27th floor.
“A piece of glass fell and actually struck a police vehicle that was on scene, there were no injuries reported thankfully,” Henke said.
However, she added that the district chief on-site reported some people were not obeying the safety measures put in place.
“Despite the barricade tape that was put in place there was still pedestrians that were walking through the incident scene.”
The Calgary Fire Department’s High Angle team attempted to make a repair but were unable to. A special glass repair company had to be called in by the building’s property manager.
The glass caused significant traffic delays throughout the afternoon and the closure is expected to continue to cause delays during the morning rush.
Henke says they do not yet know what caused the glass to break.
This has been a problem in the past for the building, back in 2017 a couple of windows were damaged on Brookfield Place in the same fashion, also causing closures in the area.
