A Calgary man is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a person with a disability after it’s alleged he abused the man he was caring for.
Investigators say they were called by a man earlier this month who said he had been sexually assaulted over the summer on multiple occasions by the person employed to be his supportive roommate.
Police have now laid charges against a 50-year-old man.

“At the time of the alleged offences, the victim relied on the offender for care and support, which puts them in a position of authority over the victim,” said Detective Adam Williams with the Calgary Police Service Sexual Assault Investigative Unit in a statement.
“We take these reports very seriously as we understand that people with disabilities are more vulnerable to this type of crime.”
The alleged is set to appear in court next month.
