Multi-vehicle crash NE of Calgary sends child, adult to hospital

Several fatalities in three years at an intersection east of Calgary, and CityNews returning to that same location following another collision Monday morning. Phoenix Phillips reports.

A crash between an SUV and a semi sent at least two people, including a child, to hospital northeast of Calgary Monday.

Paramedics responded at around 10:45 a.m. to Highways 9 and 564 on reports of a two-vehicle collision.

Public education officer Stuart Brideux for Alta Paramedic Health, formerly EMS, says a child and adult are being attended to. STARS says it transported a woman in her 30s to the Foothills hospital.

He says the child is the more stable of the two. More details are on the way.

The intersection, previously closed, has reopened on Highway 9 southbound and in both directions on Highway 564.

The intersection is the same one where two women died, and three others were sent to the hospital on Mother’s Day.
