Life in Calgary is close to back to normal since COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.
People can go out to events and restaurants, with many feeling more comfortable being in close proximity to other people. But what about getting back into dating and intimate relationships? Do no restrictions mean more in-person dates?
One Calgarian seems to think the answer is yes.
“Yes, because the face-to-face contact for me, it’s very important.”

Krystal Walter is a matchmaker in Calgary, she says returning to in-person dating depends on various things such as demographics.
“We are busier this time of year regardless just due to weather,” Walter said. “But it is increasing in the younger age groups, I think it will still take some time for people over 55 to get out there and date.”
Fewer up close and personal encounters happened during the peak of the global pandemic, but in Walter’s experience, with the help of technology, love still found a way to thrive even in difficult circumstances.
“I think there was a big increase, even with some matches that I didn’t really think would end up being a match,” Walter said. “If there was a restriction or shutdown, lots of people coupled up so that they had company.”

Walter has similar advice from previous years for those looking for love, and it’s making sure to look and feel good. You could meet someone anywhere even when out with friends or family.
“You know a lot of us are getting back into normal clothes, so just have some pants that fit you,” Walter said. “You don’t have to lose weight, but just feel comfortable. Make sure you’re in a good place mentally emotionally and get out there.”
