Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for Calgary

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Calgary.
Thunderstorms are expected to roll in from the foothills by Saturday evening.
The Canadian weather agency is warning Calgarians that heavy rain, strong winds, and large hail may be on the way.

A thunderstorm watch is also in effect for surrounding areas including Airdrie, Cochrane, Brooks, Strathmore, Vulcan, Drumheller, Sundre, Okotoks, High River, and Claresholm.
Environment Canada says thunderstorm watches are “issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.”
