A school bus crashed into a building after colliding with a minivan in northeast Calgary on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Edmonton Trail NE and 36 Avenue NE around 2:40 p.m. for reports of a crash between a minivan and a bus.

Police tell CityNews the school bus was sent into a building as a result of the crash.

No children were on board the bus, according to police, but the driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An adult and a child from the minivan were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

No one inside the impacted building was injured. Calgary fire crews were on scene inspecting the building and say it remains structurally sound.

There is no word on the cause of the crash.

The intersection of Edmonton Trail and 36 Avenue NE is closed for the investigation.

On Thursday, another crash involving a school bus at a busy southwest Calgary intersection left an SUV flipped on its side.

In that collision the school bus was full of children and two were checked for minor injuries.
