Albertans to receive three $50 electricity rebates beginning in July

The electricity rebates promised to some Albertans are coming next month, the province announced on Wednesday.

Three $50 payouts will be credited to bills in July, August and September – for a total of $150.

The rebates were previously announced, but it wasn’t clear when they would be applied.

Just under two million households, farms or small businesses will received the three consecutive monthly credits.

“These rebates, combined with the fuel tax exemption and upcoming natural gas rebate, will help the large majority of Alberta households pay their bills while we make the long-term changes needed to make energy more affordable in the years ahead,” said Dale Nally, associate minister of natural gas and electricity.

Albertans eligible for the rebate are utility customers connected to the electricity system that have consumed electricity within the past calendar year, up to a maximum of 250 megawatt hours per year.

Consumers who believe they are eligible but do not receive the rebates by end of July are urged to contact 310-4822.
