Calgary firefighters put out 2-alarm fire in Kensington community

Fire crews were called to a home in the community of Kensington Sunday morning after receiving reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrival at the home on Gladstone Road N.W. near 10 St N.W. firefighters proceeded to put out the working fire on the three-story cinder block commercial building.

Due to the fire creating significant smoke and flames, a second alarm was called and two water towers were deployed to assist in dousing the flames.

The overall damage was limited to the one building which has been vacant for a number of years according to the Calgary Fire Department.

No injuries have been reported. Calgary police were out Sunday morning helping with traffic in the area.
