Calgary police have taken a man into custody after they found him swinging a baseball bat at customers and an officer in a store.

Calgary police have taken a man into custody following a strange incident on Thursday evening in the city’s northwest.

A number of police vehicles responded to the ‘Visions’ outlet on Crowfoot Circle, where they found a man swinging a baseball bat at customers.

Police say he also tried to take a swing at an officer.

No injuries were reported but the suspect jumped a number of fences in the area trying to avoid police.

He was eventually arrested with the help of the canine unit.

So far, no charges have been laid.

A police spokesman says it appears mental health issues may be a factor.
