A driver allegedly attacked another driver in what Calgary police call a “road rage assault” in the city’s northeast Monday, and now seek CCTV or dashcam footage.
It started near the Deerfoot City parking lot, at the intersection of 9 Street and 64 Avenue, at around 5:45 p.m, according to the Calgary Police Service.
Police say the victim, driving a black 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback, was waiting to turn onto the westbound lane of 64 Avenue.
The suspect was in a white sedan, “possibly a Toyota Camry,” ahead of the victim when police say they failed to advance on the green light, prompting the victim to honk at them.
Afterward, officers say the suspect followed the victim and gestured at him to pull over.
Police say the victim did so at the Canadian Tire gas station on 64 Avenue near Hunterhorn Plaza.
At that time, investigators say the two left their vehicles, with the suspect approaching the victim and assaulting him, leaving him with “significant injuries to his legs, head, and face.”
In the meantime, police say the victim was able to get away from the suspect in his car but add they believe the suspect pursued him on Deerfoot Trail southbound and think they went into the Inglewood neighbourhood.

At around 6:40 p.m., officers say the victim got into a single-vehicle crash on 9 Avenue and 6 Street SE. A Canadian Pacific Rail officer saw it happen and called emergency services.
The footage they are looking for is either from Hunterhorn Plaza or from anyone who may have travelled on Deerfoot Trail or into Inglewood at the time of the chase and crash.
