A Calgary convenience store is facing charges for the selling of vaping products to minors, according to the City of Calgary.
The city says Calgary Business Safety Officers have convicted Gemini Convenience Store in northeast Calgary of violating the Tobacco, Smoking, and Vaping Reduction Act.
Sudhakar Tandon has been convicted by the city, along with Maple Gifts and Confectionary Enterprise Limited, the corporation he manages, for a $10,000 fine.
City business officers conducted the investigation due to complaints from the public through 311.
Calgary police also noted violations and have since laid charges.
“I would like to thank those that reached out to us via 311 and would encourage others to do the same if they learn of a business selling smoking and vaping products to minors,” said deputy chief of business safety Michael Briegel in a statement.
“It is important that we protect the health of young people — age requirements are in place for these products for a reason,”
