Calgary man with 50 warrants charged after police standoff
Calgary police have charged a man that has 50 outstanding warrants after a 12-hour standoff at his home Monday.
It happened when officers saw a man riding what was determined to be a stolen motorcycle in the Abbeydale area at around 8:30 a.m. and flee from police at a “high rate of speed.”
HAWCS Helicopter was used to track the motorcyclist to his home on Fonda Crescent in the Forest Lawn area.

After officers arrived, they contained the area and made multiple attempts to get the man to exit the residence during a 12-hour time period.

Meanwhile, 10 other people exited the home during that time, with police arresting three of them on outstanding warrants.
The Calgary Police Service Tactical Unit made entry and arrested the man at around 8 p.m.
32-year-old Raymond Edward Robert Benett of Calgary has since been charged with one count of possession of stolen property and five counts of failing to comply with a release order.
