Swimmers trespassing on Tsuut’ina land to access nude beach

Tsuut’ina Nation Police say an influx of people are trespassing on nation land to access the Weaselhead clothing optional area. With more, here’s Tate Laycraft.

A viral clip is making its rounds on social media, showing a naked man attempting to free his truck from the Elbow River.

Last week, CityNews took a trip to Calgary’s clothing optional hidden beach in Fish Creek Park, but now, according to Tsuut’ina Nation Police, an influx of people are trespassing on nation land to get to a different nude beach.

“Maybe they don’t realize, but you know, the trespass information is right there,” said Nancy Farmer, Sergeant of Operations with Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service. “And in this instance with the male that had the pick-up truck stuck in the water, we believe that’s exactly what he did.”

The Weaselhead clothing optional area is nestled between Glenmore Reservoir and Tsuut’ina Nation land.

While the area has been openly used for nude recreation over two decades, Farmer says it’s important to take the right path in getting there.

“The Tsuut’ina people have a trespassing sign for a specific reason. To respect the lands they live on,” she said. “The offences under the trespass act can lead to fines up to $1,000 and up to 30 days in jail.”

In order to access the beach legally, visitors are encouraged to park at the Weaselhead Natural Area parking lot, located on the east end of the flats.
