16-year-old girl identified as victim of fatal SW Calgary stabbing

Calgary police say a 16-year-old girl has been identified as the victim of a fatal attack in a southwest Calgary neighbourhood. Henna Saeed reports.

A teen girl has been identified as the victim of a fatal early morning attack in a southwest Calgary neighbourhood.

Emergency crews were called to the area of 24 Street and Woodview Drive SW in the community of Woodlands around 5:40 a.m. for reports of a stabbing.

Police say a teen girl had been involved in a fight with an unknown person near 24 Street and Woodview Drive SW. She was critically injured and died before she could be taken to hospital.

An autopsy completed on Thursday confirmed her identity as 16-year-old Angeline Boucher.

A suspect has not yet been identified and police believe the attacker fled the area before officers arrived.

Investigators think the weapon may have been discarded in the area. Residents are being urged to call police if they find any sharp objects in garbage bins or surrounding areas.

Police do not believe it was a random attack. The investigation is ongoing.
