Calgary’s 4 Street SE underpass will close for the year Saturday for Green Line work

Calgary’s 4 Street SE underpass will close Saturday for the rest of the year.
The closure is due to underground utility work to prepare for construction of the Green Line LRT.
The Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) says this means the intersection of 11 Avenue and 4 Street SE will also close.

Pedestrian and cyclist access will continue in the underpass.
CMLC says to get to Stampede Park and the Saddledome, the best route would be from the south along 25 Avenue or to take transit from Victoria Park/Stampede Station and Erlton/Stampede Station.
To avoid the closure at the 4 Street SE underpass, motorists are advised to take the 4 Avenue flyover through downtown to 1 St SE/Macleod Trail South instead of 9 Avenue SE.
CMLC adds it’s also a good idea to leave extra time to get to events in the area.
