The teenager who died after being stabbed in the southeast Tuesday has been identified by Calgary police.
Investigators have named the victim as 18-year-old Danillo Canales Glenn, who they say was with two friends on a basketball court in Copperfield when two strangers approached the group and started a fight.
Glenn was then bear sprayed and stabbed by the two unknown people.
The teenager later died from his injuries.
“A young man has lost his life, and several people who were present at the time of the incident have been left traumatized by this senseless confrontation,” Staff Sgt. Brad Moore said in a press release. “We recognize that the community of Copperfield is shaken by this incident, and many are concerned for their safety as the suspects remain at large. Please know that we have determined this to be an isolated matter and there is no risk to the public.”
A GoFundMe was started Thursday morning to help with Glenn’s funeral expenses.
According to the page, the teen had just graduated high school and was set to embark on a new adventure at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).

“He was so excited about his future,” the page reads. “He was a great person with great values and will be missed by so many of his peers. He was a true friend who always held you accountable but wanted the best for everyone around him.”
Police say both suspects fled the scene and have yet to be caught.
The first suspect is thought to be between 16 and 18 years old, about 5’8″ tall, with a slim build.
He was last seen wearing a navy blue zip-up hoodie with a thin black stripe across the chest back, black pants, and black shoes. His hood was also up at the time of the incident.
The second suspect is also between 16 and 18 years old, according to investigators.
Police says he’s around 5’8″ tall, with a slim build, dark brown or black hair, and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a light grey zip-up hoodie with a thin black line across the chest to the back, black jeans, black shoes, and a rectangular Gucci fanny pack across his chest.
