Teenagers identified as pot shop robbers: Calgary police

Calgary police say a group of teenage boys have been identified as suspects in multiple violent armed robberies at cannabis stores throughout the city.

Investigators asked the public for help earlier this month to find the individuals, thought to have robbed 12 weed stores in Calgary since Nov. 14.

They now say all of the suspects have been identified and arrested in connection to matters not related to the robberies.

The suspects, all 16 and 17-year-old boys, can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The investigation into the robberies continues and police say charges are pending.

In one instance, police say a store clerk was kicked unconscious and suspects pulled out a knife.

Officers were called for a robbery at the 420 Cannabis store on 33 Avenue SW on Nov. 15, and also responded to two robberies at Dank Cannabis Weed Dispensary Parkdale and 420 Cannabis on 26 Avenue SW on Nov. 22.

In each case, they say suspects left with an unknown amount of cash and cannabis products from the store.

Officers say some of the assailants were masked and armed with weapons such as handguns, hammers, and knives in the incidents.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or anonymously tip through CrimeStoppers.
