Road re-opens after vehicle crashes into building on Calgary’s 17 Avenue

By CityNews Staff

Calgary police say a section of 17 Avenue SW has reopened Monday morning after a vehicle crashed into a building, injuring a pedestrian.

Just after 8:30 a.m. CPS said via X that 17 Avenue SW in both directions between 5 Street and 7 Street SW was closed due to a collision.

Around 8 a.m., police say a driver hit a pedestrian before careening into a building near 7 Street SW.

Officials say the pedestrian suffered minor injuries.

“Expect delays and plan alterative routes as the road is expected to be closed for significant period of time to assess the structure of the building that was hit,” police said in a statement to CityNews following the incident.

The road re-opened to traffic just before 10 a.m.
