Mounties in Cochrane are looking for more victims after a Calgary man was charged with defrauding people of more than $1 million four years ago.

Cochrane RCMP say they began investigating a suspect in 2020 after number of people reported losing money. Investigators allege the victims loss more than $1 million over a number of years.

Calgary resident Scott Phillip Brooks, 50, is facing 26 charges, including 17 counts of fraud.

Police believe there are additional victims and are urging anyone else who has been approached by the accused to come forward.

“If you have put your trust in Scott Phillip Brooks in relation to an investment opportunity, Cochrane RCMP would like to hear from you,” reads a police release.

The RCMP are reminding residents that if an investment opportunity sounds to good to be true, it could be fraud.
