A comeback story for the Calgary Stampeders has been put on hold.
The Calgary Stampeders announce the following transactions:

REC Colton HunchakPlaced on six-game injury list:
REC Malik HenryReleased:
OL Alexandre MarcouxPlaced on retirement list:
REC Maxim Malenfant— Calgary Stampeders (@calstampeders) May 29, 2024
Just as he was set to return from a lengthy absence due to an Achilles injury last year, receiver Malik Henry won’t play this season.
The 27-year-old hurt his knee Tuesday at practice and needs surgery that will force him to miss the upcoming campaign.
“It’s a heart-breaking situation after seeing Malik work so hard to come back from his Achilles tendon injury last year,” head coach Dave Dickenson stated.
“As an organization, we will do everything we can to support Malik. In the meantime, we have to continue in our preparations for the season and have everyone step up to help fill the void.”
In 25 career CFL games, all with the Stamps, Henry has 87 catches for over 1,300 yards and 11 touchdowns.
In a corresponding move, the team is brining back local product and receiver Colton Hunchak, who was planning on going to play in Europe.
Hunchak was drafted by Calgary in 2019 and has suited up in 50 games for the Red and White.
The Stampeders kick off their season Friday, June 7th versus Hamilton at McMahon Stadium.
