Police identify victim in deadly shooting at NW Calgary home

Police say a man in his 40s is dead and a homicide investigation is underway following a shooting in northwest Calgary last week.

Police say a man in his 40s is dead and a homicide investigation is underway following a shooting in northwest Calgary last week.

Emergency crews were called to a home in on the 14200 block of 1 Street NW in Carrington around 5 p.m. Friday for reports of a shooting.

One person was found dead inside the home. The victim has now been identified as 42-year-old Hoang Phuoc Dat Nguyen.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.

They also believe a vehicle fire that was reported in Rocky View County between 176 Avenue and Township Road 264 may have been linked to the shooting.

Police are asking anyone who may have dashcam or security footage of a black Dodge Caravan travelling north from where the shooting occurred to Township Road 264 in Rocky View County, between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., to contact them.

Additionally, anyone who spoke to the victim in the days leading up to the shooting are being urged to contact police.
