The Canada Revenue Agency has set up a temporary escape room at Calgary’s Market Mall, to help educate and spread awareness about the dangers of being scammed, as well as how to prevent yourself from becoming a victim. Jayden Wasney reports.

Being bombarded by scams through phone calls, texts, and emails might make you feel a little trapped sometimes.

That’s the idea behind a new escape room being put on by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) that will run from Thursday to Sunday at Calgary’s Market Mall.

CRA spokesperson David Nunes tells CityNews the agency has been setting the room up at mall across the country with the aim of teaching Canadians how to avoid scammers.

He says the escape room will put people through tests that mimic real life situations.

“You’re going to be asked to identify if you can see what is a scam, and what is actual messaging from the government,” says Nunes. “You’ll get a score at the end to see how well you did.”

The CRA escape room will run at Market Mall until the mall closes on Sunday.
