Transit service resumes NE Calgary after fatal collision between pedestrian and CTrain

Calgarians commuting into downtown Wednesday morning saw major delays due to a fatal collision between a pedestrian and a CTrain

Calgary police tells 660 NewsRadio officers were called to the Bridgeland LRT Station around 7 a.m. for reports of an incident between a person and a CTrain.

Little information is available at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

In a post to X just before 7:30 a.m., Calgary Transit said Blue Line trains were running behind schedule due to a police matter. It later said trains had been shut down between Bridgeland and Franklin stations. Shuttle buses were put in place in those areas to accommodate riders.

Service resumed between Bridgeland and Franklin stations just after 9:30 a.m.

Callers to the 660 NewsRadio traffic centre reported significant backups on westbound Memorial Drive for several hours.
