The Calgary Flames have unveiled updated images of Scotia Place, offering a more detailed look at the arena, which is scheduled to open in September 2027.
The new renderings highlight several key features of the multi‑purpose event centre, including a year‑round indoor plaza, a community arena, and expanded retail space.
The indoor plaza is depicted as a bright, flexible gathering area intended for public use outside of ticketed events. According to the team’s description, the space is designed to host community functions, private bookings, and a variety of activities throughout the year.
Another rendering showcases the Esso Community Arena, which will serve athletes, families, and local user groups.

Scotia Place is being built just north of the Saddledome and will feature two concourses, including a ground‑level entry concourse. Fans seated in the lower bowl will access 28 rows of seating by walking below grade, a steeper configuration than the Saddledome’s 13‑row lower bowl.
Project planners say the design is intended to bring spectators closer to the action and create a more intimate viewing experience.
The facility will also include “flex washrooms,” a mix of men’s, women’s, and convertible spaces that can shift between the two based on event needs, an approach aimed at reducing congestion during peak times.
Calgary is set to co‑host the 2028 World Cup of Hockey alongside Edmonton and Prague, with local games expected to be played at the new arena once it opens.
