Calgary police investigating ‘hate-motivated’ graffiti spotted along Memorial Drive

Police are investigating offensive graffiti that was spotted along a busy Calgary road earlier this week.

Calgary police say they were called to the area of Memorial Drive NE and Zoo Road NE around 12 p.m. Monday for reports of graffiti on a concrete barrier.

Some social media users posted images of the graffiti which read “death to Israel, death to Canada, and death to the U.S.A.”

The graffiti has since been removed and police say they are investigating it as a hate-motivated incident.

“Police encourage Calgarians to immediately report acts of vandalism or graffiti so that they can be properly investigated,” says CPS in a statement. “There is no place for hate in our city.”

Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen someone writing on the barrier, or anyone who has dashcam footage of the area, to contact police.

The investigation is ongoing.
