Man in 60s suffers life-threatening injuries after being struck by truck: Calgary police

Around 3 p.m., Police were called to Red Embers Gate and 128th Avenue N.E for reports of a vehicle and pedestrian crash.

A man in his 60s is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a truck in northeast Calgary Friday.

Officers say a call came in around 3 p.m. at Red Embers Gate and 128 Avenue.

They say a 2023 Red Dodge Ram truck was heading south on Red Embers Gate before making a right on 128 Avenue, striking a man in his 60s who was crossing the street on a crosswalk.

The man suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, officers say the driver remained at the scene and suffered no injuries.

They add alcohol, drugs, or excessive speed are not considered factors.
