More passengers went through the doors at YYC Calgary International Airport last year than ever before.

More passengers went through the doors at YYC Calgary International Airport last year than ever before.

The airport authority says a record-breaking 18.9 million travellers were welcomed into YYC in 2024, an increase of 400,000 for the 2023 record.

“This milestone and our continued growth reflect the trust and confidence that travellers and our partners place in YYC as their gateway to the world,” Chris Dinsdale, president and CEO of The Calgary Airport Authority said in a statement. “2024 was a testament to the strength of our partnerships and the dedication of the entire airport community.

“We’re thrilled to build on this momentum as we continue to enhance the travel experience for the millions of guests we welcome each year.”

Five new non-stop destinations were also added to the airport’s slate — Keflavik, Iceland, Seoul, South Korea, Charlotte, N.C., Tulum, Mexico and Deer Lake, N.L.

The airport says it’s making investments in infrastructure and amenities to accommodate the increase in passengers year over year, including the $200 million restoration of the west runway, which is on track to be completed later this year.
