Family Day 2025: What’s open and closed in Calgary

Family Day is here, which means some businesses and services will be closed or operating at reduced hours.
Here’s what’s open and closed in Calgary on Family Day.
Attractions
- Calgary Zoo/Wilder Institute will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Heritage Park closed for the winter months (Gasoline Alley Museum open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- TELUS Spark will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The last day of the Chinook Blast Festival–Family Day Monday–will see the YYC Music Awards Showcase, performances, and “more,” on the second floor of the CORE Shopping Centre from 1-5 p.m.
Several performances slated to happen outdoors either moved or were cancelled over the holiday weekend.
Banks
Banks will be closed on Monday
Calgary Public Library
Calgary Public Library locations will be open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Canada Post
Canada Post locations will be open on Monday and regular mail collection, delivery will occur
Grocery and liquor
Most grocery stores and liquor stores will be open through the weekend, some may have reduced hours. Check your local store for more details.
Costco locations will be closed on Monday.
Leisure/recreation centres
All leisure centres, indoor pools, fitness centres and arenas, arts centres, and the Calgary Soccer Centre will be closed on Monday, with the exception of:
Free public skating – 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

- Thornhill Aquatic & Recreation Centre (6715 Centre St. N.W.)
Paid public skating – 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Landfills
Landfills and Eco Centres will be open on Monday
Parking
People can park for free in on-street ParkPlus zones on Monday, while weekend rates will apply at Calgary Park Authority parkades and surface lots.
Regular rates will still be in effect at partner lots such as Calgary Stampede, TELUS Spark, Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park.
Shopping malls
- CF Chinook Centre – open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- CF Market Mall – open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- CORE Shopping Centre – open 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- CrossIron Mills – open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Marlborough Mall – open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Southcentre – open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunridge Mall – open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Transit
Calgary Transit buses and CTrains will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday.
