Calgary police search for man accused of assaulting woman with bear spray

Calgary police are asking for your help to find a man who they believe may have information about an assault that happened late last year.

Update: Calgary police announced on March 11, 2026 that the person of interest in this incident had been identified. No information has been provided in regard to charges.


Calgary police need the public’s help in their search for a man accused of assaulting a woman with bear spray in the northeast in December.

Officers say a “verbal altercation” happened between two people outside a strip mall on the 100 block of Bedford Drive NE at around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 21.

They say the man, who police believe is in his 20s, sprayed a woman with bear spray before fleeing in a white Acura.

The man has a slim build and is around 5’11” tall, and has black hair and a mustache.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident and suspect to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
