Teen girl critically hurt after SUV crashes into parked cars

Calgary police are continuing to investigate a collision that sent a 17-year-old girl to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A teen girl is in hospital with life‑threatening injuries after a crash in southeast Calgary early Wednesday morning.

Police say the crash happened around 3:40 a.m. when a 2025 Volkswagen SUV was heading north on 26 Street SE, near 25 Avenue SE.

Investigators say the SUV struck a parked 2007 GMC Savana. The impact pushed the GMC into another parked vehicle, a 2017 Mazda 3. Both parked vehicles were unoccupied.

The driver of the Volkswagen was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are looking into whether speed played a role in the crash.
