Driver dead, another critically hurt in fiery crash north of Calgary

One person is dead and another is fighting for their life in hospital after a fiery crash north of Calgary last weekend.

Emergency crews were called to Highway 22 near Township Road 312, about 50 kilometres north of Cochrane, around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Crews arrived to find a Dodge Journey and Ford F150 in the northbound lanes of the highway. RCMP say the Dodge was on fire when officers arrived.

The driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F150 was rushed to a Calgary hospital by STARS air ambulance in critical condition.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
